Cavite's most wanted claims local cops drug trade protectors.

Camp Gen. Pantaleon Garcia, Imus City, Cavite - Police have filed charges against Alex Real Beratio, the alleged top drug personality in Cavite province, at the Provincial Fiscal's Office.

This developed as the Police Provincial Office (PPO) started looking into Beratio's claim that some local police officers are involved in the protection of drug business.

Supt. Romano V. CardiAaAaAeA~o, PPO Intelligence Branch (S-2) chief, sa that drug and gun possession charges were filed on Mondy against Beratio at Imus Prosecutor's Office.

CardiAaAaAeA~o said the charge sheets were received by Prosecutor Hilar B. Dumaual.

Corresponding drug charges were also filed against four others, namely: Josefina Soriano, Tirso Dione, Amphy Mojica and Valentino Rojales who were with Beratio when he was arrested.

CardiAaAaAeA~o said that some other suspects were caught by his officers havi pot session during the operation.

Beratio, 51, was arrested by S-2 operatives led by Senior Inspector Joie Saulog and a team from the local police after a search was conducted last Friday in his residence at Barangay V, Magallanes municipality.

Beratio is reportedly a younger brother of a Cavite provincial board member.

Confiscated from Beratio during the operation were a transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing more or less 250 grams, one Sears shotgun, one "sumpak" or homemade gun, a .22 cal. Magnum revolver and assorted ammunition.

The raid on Beratio's was conducted by the team after PPO in-charge Sr. Supt. Jonnel C. Estomo was able to secure a search warrant from San Pablo City, Laguna Regional Trial Court Branch 32 Judge Agripino G. Morga.
