Caught in act.

Hidden cameras caught a man trying to buy cocaine.

Steven Young, 35, was seen sitting in a Mitsubishi car in Newcastle's Bigg Market at around 11pm on Monday, September 20, last year.

Newcastle Magistrates' Court was told a CCTV camera operator thought the front seat passenger in the car was taking drugs and alerted the police.

Officers approached the car and saw Young, who was the passenger, drop a small item out of the window.

Young, of Tintern Crescent, North Shields, admitted attempting to possess cocaine.

He was given a pounds 100 fine but no order for court costs was made. The drug was also ordered to be destroyed.
