Cattle-Wise to Run Industry's Largest Elite Genetics Auction.
"This type of service will take the beef cattle industry into a much more efficient and cost-effective business model," said Bob Mullendore, CEO of Cattle-Wise, "and since we're operating as an ASP, the technology is available to all existing cattle auction houses and sales barns, as well as to the individual rancher."
Leading up to the auction, interested parties can register for buyer numbers and preview the lots for sale by going to www.cattle-wise.com. On-line bidding will begin on January 10th, when bidders can enter a bid by clicking the onscreen Bid button, or enter a standing bid, which is the maximum price the computer will bid up to, on the bidder's behalf.
At sale time, bidders will log into cattle-wise.com and participate in the live bidding phase of the auction using the Cattle-Wise Active Bid Monitor(TM) (ABM). The ABM is a unique device used for managing incoming bids and updating computer screens in real-time, which allows users to see and hear bidding activity. ABM includes 1) updating the existing and asking bid fields as lots are viewed, without requiring the user to refresh their screen, 2) the use of sound effects to indicate changes in bid level and whether the bidder is in the lead, and 3) graphics to show the number of bids received at each bid level.
The fully automated on-line auction is the first of several innovative technologies that Cattle-Wise will be bringing to the beef cattle industry. Upcoming solutions include on-line end-to-end cattle tracking application, as well as analytics applications focused on maximizing the value of information across the beef cattle supply chain.
Path-Wise Corporation (www.path-wise.com) is an internet software company with offices in Denver, Missoula, and San Francisco. The company creates and maintains databases and analytic tools that provide an unprecedented level of transparency and visibility into supply chain integration. Path-Wise solutions are designed to accumulate data entered by independent users across any supply chain, and to provide each user with increasingly profitable and accurate guidance for decision-making based on non-confidential aggregates of all users' data and transactions. The company's enabling technologies support e-commerce transactions, advertising and communication, business management, tracking, comparative/predictive analytics, and evaluation. The first iteration of these capabilities applied to a specific domain is Cattle-Wise (www.cattle-wise.com), which targets the beef cattle industry.
