LEADING experts from the field of mindfulness have been lined up to speak at an international event taking place in Coventry this autumn.

Coventry Cathedral will stage 'Mindfulness & Spiritual Intelligence 2017' on Saturday, October 14, between 6pm and 9pm.

The annual celebration of the field has been organised by the Flame Centre, a mindfulness, holistic and wellness centre based in City Arcade, Coventry.

It will be the fifth consecutive year the event has been held at the cathedral, with this year's theme exploring the process of spiritual intelligence with mindfulness as well as the growth indicators.

The highlight will be a collective mindfulness and compassionbased meditation with over 800 attendees.

Sonya Sanghera, Co-Director of The Flame, said: "We are overwhelmed at the success and support for the events and the impact of this event on the health, mental and physical health of individuals. Every year we will give people the chance to be part of a unique and rewarding experience.

"The event offers individuals a chance to transform their life with right-mindfulness-based practices. It is a privilege to be able to host these events, especially at such a prestigious and iconic venue like Coventry Cathedral, and to have leading world experts and pioneers."

Dav Panesar, a pioneer of rightmindfulness based interventions in health and personal development with more than 20 years' experience in the field, will be speaking.

He will be joined by Professor Brian Les Lancaster, of Liverpool John Moores University, who specialises in the study of consciousness studies and transpersonal psychology.

Fellow guest speaker Ivana Buric, PhD student at Coventry University will explore the impact of mindfulness on human genetics.

In addition, the event will include real life case studies sharing transformational experiences, challenges and discovering solutions. There will also be live music. Trish Willetts, Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) manager, said: "Mindfulness & Spiritual Intelligence is a such a wonderful event and one that puts Coventry on an international stage.

"Now in its fifth year, it keeps growing and improving and it's a testament to all the hard work of the organisers.

"We are thrilled to be supporting it this year and getting behind the Flame Centre to promote spiritual intelligence in Coventry and across the globe."

Right-mindfulness is a form of meditation focusing on breathing which helps people overcome depression, anxiety and stress by recognising how the constant train of thoughts can be quietened by learning to become present to their breathing in a compassionate and non-judging manner.

Spiritual intelligence (SQ) is an essential component of both personal and professional development. It is the ability to behave with wisdom and compassion, while maintaining inner and outer peace, regardless of the situation.
