Cat burglars' pounds 75,000 haul.

A RARE cat who is worth up to pounds 75,000 was snatched from under his owner's nose.

Breeder Peter Collins disturbed a thief who made off with the Turkish Angora and leapt into a getaway car.

Sea ports and airports have now been alerted to try to stop the thieves smuggling the 18-month-old cat out of the country.

The cat - Toni - who is owned by Mr Collins and his wife Joy, 41, is believed to be the only Turkish Angora cat in Britain to have a prized Ankara pedigree line. The couple had hoped to make a fortune by hiring him out for stud fees of pounds 800 a time.

Toni was taken at around 10.30am on Monday from his purpose-built cat house in the garden of the couple's home in Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Mr Collins said: "I was in my house when I heard what sounded like cats fighting. I went outside and saw this woman with Toni in a basket. She just legged it and jumped into the back of a car which roared off.

"Toni was potentially our most valuable possession and we are desperate to get him back. I am sickened."
