Cash raised for popular club; Local news.

A YOUTH group helping youngsters from Rawthorpe and Bradley Mills has been given a funding boost.

The U-Turn Youth Club has been awarded pounds 950 from the Dalton Ward Committee budget.

The money will help meet the rent of premises in the Community House on the Town estate close to the Galpharm Stadium, and for arts and crafts activities.

Dalton councillor Rochelle Parchment said: "The newly-founded U-Turn youth club has been very popular with local children.

"Their involvement in activities raises their aspirations, helps build their confidence and brings positive changes within the community.

"The team at U-Turn have provided children from the estates in the area with new opportunities and are bringing the estates closer together.

"I will endeavour to do anything I can to support the continuation of this service".
