Cash for the environment.

GREEN schemes could be in line for a grant.

Biffaward's 2009 Flagship Scheme will open to applications on March 2.

The aim of the scheme is to support projects of regional or national importance that will make significant steps towards improving biodiversity or cultural facilities.

The scheme awards grants of between pounds 150,000 and pounds 500,000. Groups have until July 1 to apply.

Biffaward is managed by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, which uses landfill tax credits donated by Biffa Waste Services.

Since 1997, Biffaward has awarded more than pounds 100m in funding to more than 2,000 projects.

For details on Flagship, visit www.biffaward.org or call a Biffaward grant officer on (01636) 670 000.
