Cases of illicit fuel.

REVENUE chiefs have ordered prosecutions against a number of garage owners caught selling illicit diesel.

One Co Cavan garage proprietor William Mal-one of One Stop Service Station, Dublin Road, Kingscourt, was fined E1,900 last week when convicted on a charge of selling laundered diesel at his garage on August 31.

Bailieborough District Court heard that Malone, who is now out of business, had two previous convictions.

Judge Sean MacBride imposed a six-month suspended sentence and ordered Malone to be of good behaviour for two years.

At Monaghan District Court, the Co Meath haulier Fergal Smith of Athboy was fined E950 for having illicit fuel in his lorry on November 4.
