Case of suspected congo virus at Nishtar reported.

MULTAN -- A case of suspected Congo virus was reported from Nishtar Medical Institute ( NMI) here on Tuesday, an official of health department said.

Najaf (18) s/o Ghulam Murtaza, a resident of Shadan Lond, Dera Ghazi Khan, a shepherd by profession has been suffering from fever for the last 4 days and his gums were bleeding for one day, the NMI official said and added that Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) suspected patients has been treated at an isolation ward of NMI.

When contacted, Focal person for infectious diseases at NMI, Dr Kamran Adil, said that the patient was not a suspected case of Congo rather, he was under investigation.

"We have kept the patient in isolation ward and put him under the category of Viral Haemorrhagic Fever. Basic tests will confirm with which virus he is actually suffering from fever," he informed.
