Cars burned in race attack.

THESE are the burnt-out remains of a resident's vehicle after a racist attack.

Four cars were badly damaged in an arson attack at Whitewell Road, North Belfast, shortly before 10.30pm on Tuesday.

A 36-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards and has been released on bail. Police are treating the attack as a hate crime.

North Belfast MP Nigel Dodds said: "It is utterly appalling that it is believed to be a hate crime with a racist motive.

"I understand one family were helped out of their house as their car had been set alight in their driveway."
