Carole Malone's column: What a noisy Barker.

Byline: Carole Malone

AM I alone in thinking that Linda Barker has become terminally irritating? She was just about bearable when she was on I'm a Celebrity... but since her propulsion to superstardom just the sound of that raucous, grating voice gives me the heeby jeebies. Trouble is, there's no escaping it. Since her stint in the jungle the ambitious Barker is advertising everything from cheap sofas to wallpaper to electrical gadgets - and she's doing it badly. She's wooden, she's loud and she comes across, not as the intelligent woman she probably is, but as some comedic bimbo hell-bent on doing the only thing that seems to matter to her now - making money.

Just last week the BBC announced that Barker is leaving Changing Rooms after an ultimatum that either she goes, or stays and stops endorsing products. The presenter didn't hesitate to say cheerio to the series that made her a star.

And if it wasn't enough that she's now reduced to being an (overpaid) walking, talking billboard, we now learn she's about to hit our screens presenting two more ITV shows.

Aaaargh...Pass the earplugs.
