Carlton launches listing exchange for loan and REO assets.
The CEX whole loan trading will effectively act like a MLS where institutional sellers can list their loans for sales and benefit by the tremendous exposure to an international universe of loan buyers through Carlton's extensive worldwide database of investors.
Carlton has been selling loans for banks since 1991 and has closed well over $20 billion of whole loans and mezzanine loans.
Moreover, Carlton has developed a "matching technology" whereby investor preferences are "matched up" with various loan assets which are available for sale.
"We feel there is an urgent need to more effectively and efficiently market the huge backlog of loans and REO assets currently in our system," said Mr. Michaels. "CEX Loan Listings has been developed to do just that. It is an exchange where one can trade loans similar to how traders cross bonds, except this site will connect institutional bank sellers with the masses of individuals and companies who want to buy distressed loans.
Loan and REO asset sellers will have more control, flexibility and confidentiality and will benefit by Carlton's proprietary "matching technology" which will match the best investors with their assets
Sellers will also be supported off-line by CEX professionals to identify appropriate buyers for their asset types.
The development of CEX Loan Listings is a continuous evolution of Carlton's loan sale techniques which have sold over $20 million in loan and REO sales since 1991. Carlton also maintains a database of over 25,000 private and institutional investors who are in the market to acquire performing and non-performing loans and REO.
CEX is currently marketing over $500 million in performing and non-performing commercial and residential real estate and land development loans located throughout the U.S.
