Carlsberg will seek to acquire parts of Bass.

Carlsberg Breweries of Denmark is expressing interest in buying the Carling brand from Bass, European press sources have reported. In a report in Britain's Financial Times, sources indicated that Carlsberg-Tetley might also seek the licensing rights to brew Interbrew's Stella Artois brand in the U.K.

Analysts have pointed to Heineken and South African Breweries as the most likely purchasers of Bass assets, with Anheuser-Busch as a possible dark horse. Analysts noted that Carlsberg-Tetley is seeking to strengthen its position in Great Britain.
