Carl Fischer to acquire Theodore Presser.

Carl Fischer has entered into an agreement in principle to acquire Theodore Presser Company, subject to due diligence, where both companies will combine their strengths in the print and performance fields.

Some back room operations will be combined, but in the areas of editorial and promotion, the two companies will retain their separate identities. Theodore Presser will continue to be known as Theodore Presser, and Carl Fischer will remain as Carl Fischer.

"We think this is definitely a case where the sum is greater than its parts," said Lauren Keiser, president/CEO of Carl Fischer. "We look forward to merging the great skills of both companies by developing unique products and publications, promoting and nurturing composers, and using our strengths to grow both businesses into a major new force within the music industry."

By combining the print catalogs of both Carl Fischer and Theodore Presser, they will offer about 35,000 active titles from, in addition in their own, about 100 small to large publishers worldwide.
