Career conman caught on CCTV.

A WREXHAM man who set up bogus bank accounts in other people's names and withdrew cash was branded a career conman by a judge.

Darren Simons, 36, claimed to have found a woman's bank details while rummaging through bins in Wrexham town centre looking for food. He was able to withdraw money from her account. Simons also took advantage of a friend who had put him up - by stealing his laptop. He used information he had gained to open up a bank account in his name and withdrew cash.

The conman also applied for a credit card in his friend's name with his own name as a second card holder - and withdrew cash.

But he was caught on CCTV withdrawing money from Lloyd's Bank in Ellesmere Port, Mold and Buckley.

Simons of Collins Court in Wrexham, admitted theft and fraud offences and was jailed for 16 months.

Judge Niclas Parry, sitting at Mold Crown Court, told him: "You can rightly be described as a career conman."

Simons, he said, was a thoroughly dishonest man who had deceived many people.
