Cardio can't shift my fat.

Man Moment Got a health, fitness or emotional issue? Q: I DO cardio four times a week and eat healthily but can't seem to shift body fat. Please help!

Mark Kelly, Liverpool A: DOING cardi-only training is a common mistake. Studies show after a weight training workout, the metabolic rate in the body can be increased for up to 36 hours. That means that rather than burning 60 calories per hour while watching TV, you're burning 70. Multiply this by 36 hours and you can see what a huge difference that makes.

I would advise introducing 30-minute weight training sessions two or three times per week with your cardio program.

Using a heavy resistance and working at a range of 10-15 repetitions for women will be most efficient in burning fat, as well as creating the "after burn" effects.

Combining good cardio with regular weight training is the best way to shift body fat.
