Cardiff man's book is a top ten bestseller.

A BOOK about Cardiff is the first to make it into both the Welsh top ten and the general best sellers list.

Cardiff Then and Now, by Brian Lee and his son-in-law Russell Harvey, of Pontprennau, Cardiff, has made it to number three in Oriel & Blackwells top ten book chart.

It was beaten to the stop spot by Billy, the biography of comic Billy Connolly by his wife Pamela Stephenson, and JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

Critic, Professor Meic Stephens, of the University of Glamorgan, said the work was "one of the most handsome books ever to be published about our capital city".

Mr Lee, who has written nine books about Cardiff, said: "The book was really my son-in-law's idea. It took him six months to take pictures around Cardiff from the exact spot, where possible, as the old photographs."

Russell Harvey is also the author of Morris Minor Light Commercials.
