Cardiff Law School: a centre of excellence in the heart of the capital.
A thriving, internationally renowned institution, Cardiff Law School is committed to achieving and maintaining excellence in both teaching and research.
In the latest Research Assessment Exercise the School was ranked 7th in the UK.
Regardless of your legal interest or specialisation, Cardiff Law School has a wide choice of postgraduate LLM routes on offer and is the only Russell Group University to provide the main vocational training courses for students wishing to qualify as a solicitor or barrister.
You don't necessarily need to have a legal qualification to take advantage of what the Law School has to offer... the School's new Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme, which is being launched in September, is specifically aimed at students interested in studying Masters' level modules as single units, be it in Human Rights, Commercial, Medical, Social Care or European Law, or Governance and Devolution.
Designed for busy professionals already committed to a career path, the CPD programme enables students to pace their studies according to their own commitments.
The programme offers a flexible study format, allowing students to choose to study just one unit or progress to obtain a full LLM.
In another development, from September the Law School will also be introducing its highly regarded legal practice course part time over two years.
Cardiff's full-time Legal Practice Course has consistently achieved the Solicitors Regulation Authority's highest rating. The new part-time course will offer maximum flexibility and accessibility, while maintaining the superb high standards of the full-time programme and allowing students to take advantage of all the university has to offer.
In addition, the School will also introduce the new Bar Professional Training Course (formerly the Bar Vocational Course) from September.
The Centre for Professional Legal Studies at the School has been delivering the equally highly regarded Bar Vocational Course since it was first introduced by the Bar Council in 1997 and the new course is already fully subscribed Located in the heart of Cardiff's magnificent Civic Centre, Cardiff Law School is a stone's throw from the city centre, Welsh Assembly Government buildings, barristers' chambers and law courts.
Students are taught in a research environment by staff working at the frontiers of knowledge in their areas of expertise, making the Law School a stimulating place in which to study.
"We aim to provide a friendly and supportive environment for all our students, regardless of culture, background or aspiration," said Professor Gillian Douglas, Head of School.
"Many of our students now occupy key positions in the legal profession, commerce, industry and government.
In the changing legal environment, you can be assured that studying at Cardiff Law School will help prepare you to play your part and provide you with the skills to adapt."
