Byline: Carbondale Times

A Carbondale man died Monday in a head-on traffic collision on Rt. 51 in DeSoto.

Jackson County deputies say Joseph Hill, 30, of Carbondale was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which occurred around 9:46 a.m. Jan. 21 on Rt. 51 about half a mile south of Truax Traer Road.

Deputies say a southbound PT Cruiser driven by Hill crossed the center line divider and struck a northbound Chevrolet Trailblazer head-on.

The driver of the Trailblazer, identified as Christopher Miller, 31, of Carbondale, sustained minor injury and was taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation. The sheriff's office has been assisted by the Jackson County Ambulance Service, Jackson County Coroner's Office and the DeSoto Township Fire Department.
