Carberry battered but not broken; NAVAN YESTERDAY.

Byline: GERRARD CROSS

JOCKEY Paul Carberry had a lucky escape from serious injury when hurting his knee in a crashing fall from the front-running Charlie Yardbird in the Athboy Hurdle.

He was stretchered off the course and helped into the ambulance room but said: "I don't think anything's broken so I'm not going to go for an X-ray. I'll see the surgeon tomorrow."

The Aintree Grand National-wining team of trainer Martin Brassil and jockey Niall Madden land a gamble with Moville in the maiden hurdle.

The four-year-old was making his hurdling debut and was backed from 12-1 at morning prices down to 9-4 favourite.
