Car of TV Renown.
A1952 Triumph Renown that starred in the TV series The Darling Buds Of May is to feature in British Car Auctions' Golden Jubilee Classic & Historic sale on Monday week.The Triumph is seen in the title shot of each episode in the last two series, resting in the wooden garage alongside the oasthouse at the Larkin farm.
It was one of a variety of vehicles owned by the eccentric Pop Larkin, played by David Jason. The series gave an important boost to the career of the then virtually unknown Catherine Zeta Jones.
On its retirement from the small screen the Renown could hardly have been described as in ``Perfick'' condition, but the current owner - who bought it in 1995 - has subsequently restored the car.
The car will go under the hammer at the Blackbushe auction centre with full documentation, current MOT, notation from the former owner and photographs relating to its TV use.
It is expected to fetch around pounds 4,500.
