Car bombs kill 22 people; wound 42 across Iraq - police.

| BAGHDAD, May 20 (KUNA) -- At least 22 people were killed and 42 others were wounded across Iraq Monday, as three car bombs went off in crowded areas, police in Bagdad and Basra said.

In Basra, 14 people were killed and 28 others were injured when a car bomb, parked near a public market downtown Sd city, exploded.

Another car bomb went off in Al-Husain neighborhood, west of Basra, killing 14 civilians and wounding 28 others.

In northern Baghdad, meanwhile, a car bomb explosion in central Kadhimiyah town killed eight people and wounded 14 others.

Sources in both Basra and Baghdad said that the targeted areas were condoned off and ambulances transferred the causalities to the nearest hospitals.(end) mhg.nfm KUNA 201118 May 13NNNN
