Caper fails to land a realistic blow.

The Love Punch 94mins

***12A

GENTLE laughs and a series of unlikely situations abound in this passable crime caper that should just about entertain its target audience.

But if you're not middle class and getting on, you can stop reading now.

Pierce Brosnan is a wealthy divorcee who, when bankrupted by a French conman, teams up with his ex-wife (Emma Thompson) in a frankly improbable bid to steal a PS10million diamond from the villain. As far as movies UK Box courting the grey pound go, this certainly isn't The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

It disappoints thanks to limp gags and a plot that, while never dull, fails to approach believability. Still, the gamefor-a-laugh cast's sense of fun is infectious.
