Caning taught me discipline.

I AGREE 100% with the comments made by Stephen Siddoway regarding the use of the cane in schools in bygone days.

I went to school from 1938 to 1947 and I was caned a few times, so I wasn't just taught the three Rs but I learned what discipline was.

We have do-gooders like M Watts who use words like battered, abused and assaulted just to make caning sound a lot worse than what it was.

Do-gooders are described as people who seek to correct social ills in an impractical way. Over the years they have done more harm than good, that's why hardened criminals and murderers are allowed to walk the streets again.

I hope these do-gooders are all proud of themselves.
