Canada : Lignum Veneer: Increasing production through artificial intelligence.

As a true economic driver, innovation is the key to success in that it generates growth that benefits businesses and communities. That is why the Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovative Canadian businesses like Lignum Veneer to help them grow and create high-quality jobs.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, today announced that a repayable contribution of $898,500 has been granted to Lignum Veneer to help it upgrade its technological level, become more competitive and improve working conditions.

Lignum Veneer specializes in wood and stone veneers and excels in splicing specialized wood veneers of various grades, species and sizes, as well as stone veneers. A highly innovative company, Lignum Veneer has optimized its production line over the years. It uses a skilled labour force, providing employees with three years of training. In order to continue growing, it now has to automate its veneer manufacturing processes.
