Canada : IXIASOFT announces SAP s deployment of IXIASOFT DITA CMS for technical communications management.

IXIASOFT, the XML content management market leader, announced today that SAP, a leading provider of enterprise application software, is deploying the IXIASOFT DITA CMS solution to manage its standard documentation based on Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA). An open XML standard, DITA is used broadly across the technical documentation field to efficiently write, manage and publish information.

In an effort to optimize, align, and unify all product documentation into a single, consolidated content management solution (CCMS), SAP is currently deploying the IXIASOFT DITA CMS across its Technology and Innovation Platform (TIP) organization to produce and manage its documentation for solutions including the SAP NetWeaver technology platform, SAP BusinessObjects business intelligence analytics solutions, and the SAP HANA platform. With growing numbers and types of products and delivery platforms to manage, SAP has been working on a documentation strategy to improve the quality and consistency of its documentation, enhance team collaboration, and improve overall efficiencies in documentation processes.

We selected DITA CMS from IXIASOFT because we felt that it was truly designed to support the DITA standard, said Sven Leukert, vice president, Knowledge Management, SAP. We also believe that using DITA combined with the IXIASOFT DITA CMS will open up new opportunities for SAP to deliver our content dynamically and to more platforms. The solution also provides the flexibility required to support our advanced product lines and multi-release processes. In fact, we are currently using the DITA CMS to document SAP HANA, our powerful in-memory database solution. We truly feel that we are building a long-term relationship with IXIASOFT, and that its highly knowledgeable and dynamic team will help us put in place innovative ways to manage SAP content and deliver it to our target audience.

The DITA CMS was designed for large-scale installations, such the one we are currently deploying at SAP, and so we are very excited about this opportunity to fully leverage all the robust functionalities of the system with an organization that is a true leader in its field, said Eric Bergeron, CEO of IXIASOFT. The IXIASOFT DITA CMS will certainly contribute to the success of SAP s single-source content strategy, and we are looking forward to working with them for years to come.

The first phase of deployment is nearly complete, involving approximately 200 users from the SAP TIP organization located worldwide. Also involved are representatives from other SAP groups who are running pilot tests to evaluate the IXIASOFT DITA CMS environment for their own stakeholders.
