Canada : CN announces support for host First Nation of the 2017 North American Indigenous Games.
As part of its celebration of National Aboriginal Day, CN today announced a $40,000 contribution to the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation (MNCFN) to support their role as host First Nation of the 2017 North American Indigenous Games.
"We're very proud to support the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation and their efforts to host the 2017 North American Indigenous Games," said Janet Drysdale, vice-president of corporate development and sustainability at CN. "This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate North America's best Indigenous athletes. CN is committed to developing respectful and mutually beneficial relationships with all Aboriginal people and this is another example of what we can accomplish working together."
The North American Indigenous Games will take place July 16 to 23 in Toronto where more than 5,000 athletes are expected to participate.
Chief R. Stacey Laforme, chief of MNCFN said, "The North American Indigenous Games brings thousands of athletes together to showcase the holistic potential of our bodies, minds, spirit and people. We're proud to be the host First Nation of this year's games and we are thankful for CN's support of this effort."
Earlier this week in Montreal, as part of its celebration of National Aboriginal Day, CN unveiled a locomotive with a special paint scheme featuring a logo honouring the company's commitment to Aboriginal relations. CN's Aboriginal Affairs logo demonstrates CN's commitment to developing and maintaining respectful and sustainable relationships with all Aboriginal peoples across our network.
