Canada: Bakery By-Product Producer Farines SPB Meal Invests in Ontario Facility.

23 June 2010 - Farines SPB Meal Ltd, a Quebec-based company that collects and converts by-products from bakeries and related industries to produce ingredients, is investing over CAD 1.4 million to re-equip an existing feed mill in Peterborough, Ontario.

The facility will produce the company's flagship product Energro, which is used by pork and poultry feed producers.

"Energro, made by dehydrating food by-products, is an easily digestible meal ingredient that is an excellent source of energy and protein for pork and poultry", says Farines SPB Meal.

Ontario's Ministry for Economic Development and Trade is investing over CAD 217,000 to help Farines SPB Meal create 13 new jobs in the next two years at the new facility.

"The Ontario government's investment is making it possible for Farines SPB to further expand into the Ontario market. The new Ontario facility will help us continue being the Canadian industrial leader in food by-product collection and recovery and, to develop agricultural by-product into biomass for the production of energy", commented Sylvain Brasseur, President and CEO of Farines SPB Meal Ltd.
