Can schoolgirl Maia, 12, make it on talent show?

A SCHOOLGIRL from South Wales is the latest homegrown hopeful trying to make it through to the next round of TV talen show Britain's Got Talent.

Maia Gough, 12, from Skewen, will go before the panel of judges on tonight's show in the hope of wowing them with her rendition of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing and making it one step further to the final of the ITV reality show.

Managing not to look too nervous as she went before the panel for the recording of the show for tonight , she laughed when David Walliams told her: "That's a beautiful dress, I nearly wore that today myself - lucky I didn't."

Confessing her love for the late American singing star, Maia then launched into her version as everyone in the audience, and backstage - including, it seems, almost everyone from her family back in Neath Port Talbot - gave her their full support. Also up from Wales on tonight's show is Tom Johnson, 20 a student with a love of jazz dance and X Factor girl band Little Mix - but will combining the two prove to be a wise decision? Whatever the outcome, both he and Maia are banking on joining North Wales choir Ysgol Glanaethwy, who wowed the judges in week one.
