Campaigners still seeking assurances over Baby P.

Summary: Two years after Baby P's death campaigners still seeking assurances over Haringey's child services.

Two years after the death of Baby Peter campaigners are still seeking assurances that another child will not "slip through the cracks".

The little boy's death at the hands of his mother and stepfather in Haringey, north London, on August 3 2007 is continuing to send shockwaves through child protection agencies.

Local Lib-Dem MP Lynne Featherstone said there were still many unanswered questions two years on.

She said: "This is a sad time when we remember a tragedy that should never have happened.

"Those people involved in the evil cruelty that led to Baby Peter's death have been punished, but I am still deeply concerned about Haringey's children's services that failed to protect him".

Peter was just 17 months old when he died, having suffered multiple injuries despite receiving sixty visits from social workers, doctors and police over the final eight months of his life.
