Campaign to help refugee dentist work.

A FUNDRAISING drive is under way for a Syrian dentist desperate to use his skills in his adopted Northern Ireland.

Mahfouz and wife Abir were forced from their home in Aleppo and are now living in Lisburn, Co Antrim, with their four children.

But in order to work here he must complete a UK-certified dentistry exam costing PS6,000.

Mark Feeney has set up a JustGiving page in a bid to raise the money needed.

He said: "While Mahfouz is both fortunate and grateful to find work, his skill base and ability to maximise his contribution to society is hampered by the need for certification. Mahfouz needs our support."
