Dr Higgins said: "It is great to see our PM doing the warm-up act for the NEPIC trade mission.

"We have a party of 10 companies and about 20 executives going to Mumbai, Dahej and Vapi.

"The companies include chemical manufacturers, logistics, engineering, educational organisations and patent/IP experts.

"NEPIC has already found business for companies like these during trade missions it has taken to India in the past."

NEPIC has been named international partner for the ICC's - Indian Chemical Council - annual conference in Mumbai, which the group will attend.

NEPIC boss Stan Higgins says Prime Minister David Cameron's India trade mission is the "warm-up act" for his UKTI-supported trip there next month.

Stan Higgins, chief executive of NEPIC, made the quip as the largest British business delegation touched down in Mumbai - to criticism from some quarters there should have been a more Northern slant to the trip.
