Cameron Diaz 'enjoys playing mum'.

Summary: Cameron Diaz didn't think twice about signing up to play a mum in tear-jerker My Sister's Keeper.

Cameron Diaz says she did not think twice about signing up to play a mother in tear-jerker My Sister's Keeper.

The Hollywood superstar is not a real-life mum and has been outspoken about the fact she does not currently feel the need or inclination to have children.

But she says she quickly settled into her first maternal role.

"I didn't worry whether it was something believable or that I hadn't played it before," she said. "It was something that I really enjoyed."

Based on the best-selling book, the film focuses on the Fitzgerald family, and their drastic decision to medically engineer a child to help save the life of their older daughter, who has leukaemia.

Diaz plays the bulldog matriarch Sara in director Nick Cassavetes' latest drama, which arrived in UK cinemas on Friday.
