The facility will be the center of the Adams Street Redevelopment project, which is funded by the Environmental Protection Agency's Brownsfield Pilot Program and a $1.9 million Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration grant.
The Ouachita Partnership for Economic Development has committed $150,000 to the project from the proceeds of a 1-cent economic development sales tax approved by Camden residents in June 2001. The Camden Port Authority will be the owner of record for the Brownsfield Redevelopment area and the business incubator building.
The 15,000-SF building will house the operations of the Ouachita Partnership for Economic Development and potentially could house eight offices and 10 light manufacturers or assemblers.
Gardner Construction Co. of Fordyce is the contractor for the $700,000 project. Work is expected to be completed by December.
