Calling footie mates from the 50s; back in time.

I'M responding to the picture sent in by Ron Campbell of the 'Stars of the 50s' football team who played South Birmingham Saturday League.

Heathfield Unit-ed's manager, Eric Arnold, lived opposite our family and my elder brother, Maurice 'Jack' Blore, was secretary of Yardley Wood Amateurs who also played in the Sunday League, South Birmingham.

Several of the players pictured also played on Sunday for my brother's team, and Eric and Maurice were friends.

The 'unknown' player to the goalkeeper's left is G Dawson, I think. He was in the same youth club as Graham Cohen, a very good youth footballer, as I remember, and me. 'Napper' Holloway was a friend of my younger brother, Doug.

My brother Maurice was also, much later, branch secretary of the union at Cadbury's, where he acquired the nickname of 'Jack'. Like Eric, he served in the Royal Navy.

The photograph is of me aged 18.1 was no good at football, but it would be nice to hear from anyone still around.
