Callers store alight.

YOU recently published pictures from the new book "It's My Life". One was of the fire at Callers Store, in Northumberland Street, Newcastle, in 1969. My late husband was a fireman and he attended the fire and the picture you used has a fireman in the doorway and I am certain it is my late husband. He was often a driver and had to stay with the fire engine on standby. The amazing side of this story is Callers fire was a bad one, but no-one was in the building at the time. After the fire my husband found a blackened bone china teapot, milk jug and sugar basin, unbroken, which I have still got to this day. I enjoy your Remember When as it brings back lots of good memories, such as the Oxford Galleries, The Muscle Inn, La Dolce Vita.
