Call for planning rules change; NEWS IN BRIEF.

A CALL for a change in planning policy to allow small industrial developments on farmland in the Vale of Glamorgan has been made by business leaders.

It comes ahead of a meeting next week between Vale councillors, economic development officers, planners and business leaders on the best way of helping the Vale through the economic downturn.

Business leaders have also highlighted the importance of keeping a skilled workforce and have called "for sites to be identified for a sizeable manufacturing facility to be established in the Vale".

They say that more attractions in the Vale should be promoted to protect local jobs.

The meeting is due to be held tomorrow.
