Call for creating awareness on women protection laws.

ISLAMABAD -- Speakers including parliamentarians, legal experts, media persons and policy makers at a seminar called for creating awareness on women protection laws to empower them and give their due rights.

The seminar entitled, 'Harassment Against Women and Impact of recent Legislation for Women Protection' was organized by South Asian Women in Media (SAWM) to highlight issues faced by women at various levels including harassment at workplace.

Participants of seminar included large number of women in media while the speakers discussed various issues faced by women at workplace, forced marriages, image of women shown on entertainment media.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, parliamentary secretary for human rights, Rubina Saadat Qaim Khani said male dominated society should be educated on respecting women to counter harassment issues at workplace.

The panel of speakers included Tasneem Siddiqui, Legal Expert Humaira Masroor and women rights activist Samar Minallah.
