Call for Pope to address gay marriage.

CARDINAL Raymond Burke yesterday called on Pope Francis to clarify the Catholic Church's stance on homosexual relations.

Burke was demoted from his leadership of the Vatican's Supreme Court last week.

The 66-year-old said he would refuse Holy Communion to any Catholic legislator who voted for same-sex marriage.

He was speaking at a conference in Limerick but wouldn't comment on the planned referendum over gay and lesbian marriage.

Cardinal Burke repeated his call to the Pope to clarify the Church's position on gay relations and on giving Holy Communion to civilly remarried and divorced couples.

He said confusion is growing about what the Church teaches.

Plea: Cardinal Burke
