Call a cab.
The Red Top Cab Company in Arlington, Va., is said to provide reliable, reasonably-priced accessible transportation.
Wheelchair users should call at least ten days in advance to reserve a ramp van. Tell them you use a wheelchair and provide your airline, flight number, day and time of arrival, and cell phone number.
The company will confirm a pick-up time and send a wheelchair-accessible cab to the airport. Allow plenty of time to deplane and get through baggage claim. I usually allow 45 minutes from the time of scheduled arrival to the curbside pick-up.
The cab driver will call you after your scheduled landing time to confirm the platform number where he or she will meet you. At Reagan Washington National Airport, curbside pick-up is directly outside the baggage pick-up area.
Able-bodied individuals can call for a cab after they have picked up their bags but cannot reserve in advance.
