Call Sciences Chooses MX Logic to Stop Spam.

Business Editors

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 23, 2003

Hosted Communications Provider Significantly Reduces Spam for its Onebox Customers

MX Logic, Inc., a provider of managed email protection and security services, including spam and virus filtering, today announced that Call Sciences, a provider of enhanced personal communications services, has selected MX Logic's email defense service to block spam for its Onebox customers.

Call Sciences' Onebox service provides email, voice mail, faxes, and real-time call management services to its subscribers. Prior to selecting MX Logic to protect its Onebox customers, Call Sciences had been contending with an increase in spam to its subscribers. The company's goal was to identify the best solution to address both the immediate issue of spam blocking and the ongoing challenge of identifying and blocking new spam efforts.

"We were looking for a solid spam blocking solution for our tens of thousands of subscribers and MX Logic's email defense service provided the spam-control solution we needed," said Cindy Adams, vice president of marketing and sales for Call Sciences. "We learned right away that roughly 50 percent of our incoming email was spam, which is now being blocked before it reaches the subscribers' inboxes. And, with MX Logic's service we rarely have any false positives, or legitimate messages blocked by accident."

With tens of thousands of customers using Onebox, spam created a significant storage issue for Call Sciences. With MX Logic's email defense service, storing quarantined spam messages is no longer Call Science's responsibility. MX Logic stores all spam messages in an external quarantine, which keeps spam email for a limited time period set by Call Sciences. Onebox customers can either review and delete their quarantines with MX Logic's Spam Summary Reports, or know that after a short period of time their old spam messages will be removed automatically. Now that MX Logic is catching all Onebox customers' spam messages, Call Sciences is saving money by both reducing the time spent by its IT personnel on spam quarantines, as well as the additional storage space required to store those unwanted junk messages.

"Call Science's spam problem was representative of the majority of hosted messaging services in the U.S. The magnitude of the issue was significant for Call Sciences because of its large subscriber base," said Scott Chasin, MX Logic's CTO. "So we're very pleased that our service is delivering the benefits we designed it to provide: stopping spam from reaching its customers, freeing up IT resources, and enabling a flexible, easy-to-implement email defense solution."
