California Microwave Sells Air Traffic Control Radio Unit to Harris Corporation.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 1996--California Microwave Inc. (NASDAQ:CMIC) announced today that it had sold its Digital Radio Technology, Inc. (DRT) unit to Harris Corporation of Melbourne, Fla. and Rochester, N.Y.

Terms of the sale of the development-stage company were not disclosed.

Rochester-based DRT was founded in 1994 to pursue opportunities in air-to-ground communications systems using digital radios. California Microwave began funding DRT in 1995 and purchased a majority interest in the company that same year.

Focus on Core Business

According to Philip F. Otto, California Microwave's chairman and chief executive officer: "While DRT participates in an interesting area of the wireless communications market, we determined that its business was not a good fit with our strategic plans. The divestiture of DRT will allow California Microwave to focus more fully on its core businesses."

California Microwave Inc. is a leader in satellite and wireless communications. It is the number one U.S. supplier of telecommunications satellite earth stations and microwave radios used in wireless communications.
