California CIO Flynn Named Vice President at Litton PRC.

McLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 1999--PRC Inc., a subsidiary of Litton Industries Inc. (NYSE:LIT), Thursday announced that John Thomas Flynn has joined the division as vice president of its State and Local Government business group.

In this position, Flynn is responsible for developing and expanding Litton PRC's existing state and local government business base, reporting to Leonard M. Pomata, Litton vice president and president of Litton PRC.

"John Thomas Flynn is a recognized leader in the area of public- sector information technology. We are very pleased that he has joined Litton to share with us his vast expertise and experience," said Alden V. Munson Jr., Litton senior vice president and group executive of Litton's Information Systems Group (ISG).

"We look forward to the many contributions John will make in increasing PRC's business with state and local government customers," Munson stated. Litton PRC reports to Litton ISG.

Flynn joins Litton PRC from the State of California, where he served as the state's first chief information officer under former California Gov. Pete Wilson. Appointed to the state position in 1995, he oversaw the creation of the California Department of Information Technology and spearheaded a number of reforms on how the state plans, procures and implements large-scale information-technology projects.

In addition, Flynn identified the Year 2000 challenge as an early priority, placing California's Department of Information Technology at the forefront as an authority and resource to the 150 agencies, boards and departments that make up the California state government. As a result, California has been recognized as a model among states and other organizations for its Year 2000 assessment and remediation efforts.

In October 1997, Flynn was elected president of the National Association of State Information Resource Executives. He also serves on the United States General Accounting Office Executive Council on Information Management and Technology, and is a member of the Board of Advisers of the Fisher Center for Management and Information Technology, Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.

Prior to joining state government, Flynn spent 15 years in computer-systems development. He was awarded a bachelor's degree by Boston College; studied economics and international relations at the University of Vienna, Austria; and has a master's degree in business administration from the American University in Washington, D.C.

Litton is a leader in worldwide technology markets for advanced electronic, defense and information systems, and is a major designer and builder of surface combatant ships for the U.S. Navy and allied nations.
