CALENDERING SYSTEMS

ADAMSON DIV. WEAN UNITED, INC.

Capacity of company's calendering systems ranges from 400 to 18,000 lb/hr. Calender rolls are from 18-in. diam. x 48-in. working face to 36 x 132 in. Company supplies either partial or complete systems, including intensive fluxing mixers, mills, calender, stripper rolls, embossers, cooling drums, accumulators, and wind-ups. Engineering studies are also provided.

BERSTORFF CORP.

Calenders with two to seven rolls for manufacturing rigid and flexible PVC film are offered. Product line includes many sizes from laboratory to high-capacity systems. Company also delivers complete PVC film plants and supplies the necessary knowledge to use them.

A smaller production unit, the Bekalex machine, is a compact extruder/calender combination. Its components are a planetary-gear extruder, three-roll calender, and auxiliary equipment.

STEWART BOLLING CO., INC.

Manufactures a complete calender line, including basic calenders from 6 x 13 in. to 36 x 120 in. with complementary calender trains. Features include special dual-metal, high-modulus rolls with constant roll-face temperature drilling, roller bearings, high-modulus frames, hydraulic screwdown with a reported 0.1-mil accuracy, pinion stand, roll openings and changer, pick-off rolls, stretch rolls, roll crossing and bending, and computer controls. Company offers consulting and engineering services, and will rebuild existing calenders.

CARL G. BRIMMEKAMP & CO., INC.

Distributes Collin laboratory equipment in two-, three-, and four-roll configurations with maximum roll diam. of 10 in. and maximum width of 34 in. Stretching, cooling, and winding equipment can also be provided.

BUSS (AMERICA), INC.

EEMCO

Provides calenders and mills for plastic and rubber. Company offers various sizes and two-, three- and four-roll configurations. Also provides rebuilding of worn equipment using large machining capabilities and metallizing screws coated with tungsten carbide, using the hyperonic combustion process.

ERIE MILL & PRESS CO.

Manufactures laboratory calenders and small production units. Equipment ranges from 6 x 13 in. to 14 x 30 in. Two-or three-roll units can be furnished with wind-ups and let-offs, as well as strip knives and stock guides. Rolls are available with standard cores or drilled for cooling and heating.

FARREL CORP.

Provides complete calendering plants for outputs between 300 and 15,000 lb/hr at 3 to 150 yd/min of flexible and rigid vinyls, ABS, urethanes, and polyolefins. Sizes range from 6 x 13 in. to 36 x 120 in. Features include special dual-metal, high-modulus rolls, roller bearings, quick-roll opening, quick-roll changers, special pickoff and stretch rolls, and standard or custom embossers. Company offers project and installation engineering as well as calender line rebuilding and upgrading.

INDEPENDENT MACHINE CO.

Complete calendering coating, slitting and winding systems are designed and manufactured in sizes from 6- to 108-in. width. Company offers both laboratory and production equipment. Each system is custom-designed for specific applications. Engineering services are also available.

ITALIAN TRADE COMMISSION

Complete calendering plants are available from Italian companies specializing in PVC and rubber processing equipment for floor tiles and wall coverings. Information is available from this office.

LEMBO CORP.

Offers design and fabrication equipment from stripper section to rewinds. Sections include stripper, either single or turret embosser section, annealing, cooling, gauging, and surface or turret winders. Pre-calender equipment for in-line laminating includes unwind "J" box, preheating, and put-on roll. Turret rewinds feature programmable circuity for taper and constant tension.

Proprietary chrome-plated cooling and heating rolls with 200-in. roll face and gears are said to be highly efficient and designed for maximum line speed and output. Available services include equipment upgrading, new component replacement, and installation.

LEMBO-MIDLAND LTD.

Offers a range of calendering support equipment, including stripper sections, embossing units, tempering and cooling units and automated winding equipment. Campany's mini-calender is said to offer an alternative to the high capital cost of calenders while maintaining high film standards and high production. Mini-calenders can be designed for flexible and semi-rigid film products. Systems can incorporate complete processing, from compounding through film or sheet production. Laminators and embossing can also be incorporated.

Company rebuilds, repairs, and sells used calendering equipment.

POMINI, INC.

Serving North America, with facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, this Italian-based firm offers high-precision calenders for rubber and plastics manufactured by Comerio Ercole, an Italian-based company. Calenders are manufactured in various configurations: three to four rolls in vertical Z, L and inverted L types. Company also offers a complete line of post-calender trains for mono-orienting calendered films. The patented take-off stretching unit and relaxing bed can be applied both on new calenders and on existing units.

PURNELL INTERNATIONAL

Offers "Calendrette" calender lines from Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik GmbH for producing rigid, semi-rigid, and flexible PVC film, with a thickness from 3 to 30 mils, widths of 24 to 60 in., and capacities up to 2200 lb/hr. Systems are reportedly designed to provide space savings and flexibility with low investment. They work in conjunction with Battenfeld planetary-roller extruders to provide shorter extrusion paths for thermally sensitive materials.

RELIABLE RUBBER AND PLASTIC MACHINERY CO., INC.

Offers two-, three-, and four-roll laboratory and specialty production calenders with up to 8 x 18 in. roll sizes, drives, gearing, and accessories to meet customer specifications. Rebuilt calenders are also available. are also availabe.
