Caid Essebsi keen to open Tunisian diplomacy to broader hozirons.
(TAP) - President Beji Caid Essebsi called Monday heads of diplomatic and consular missions to step up efforts to open the Tunisian diplomacy to broader horizons.
During the closing ceremony of the 35th Annual Conference of Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Missions held at the Carthage Palace, Caid Essebsi pointed out the broad principles of Tunisia's foreign policy which promotes relevant positions," specifying that "these positions have succeeded to shelter Tunisia from any diplomatic crisis."
"It is not necessary that Tunisia adopts a tense position towards one side at the expense of another," he underlined.
"The recommendations issued from the 35th Annual Conference of Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Missions will undoubtedly contribute to mark a new start in the Tunisian diplomatic action," he affirmed.
The Head of the State decorated during this ceremony several officials from the Foreign Ministry with the insignia of the Order of the Republic.
He also decorated posthumously Fadhel Ayari and Samir Jemii with the insignia of Officer of the Order of the Republic and Mohamed Mondher Dharif and Moncef Baati with the same insignia.
Furthermore, Mokhtar Chaouachi and Samir Koubaa were decorated with the insignia of the Chevalier of the Order of the Republic.
Words of the 35th Annual Conference of Heads of Diplomatic and Consular Missions started last Wednesday under the theme: "Economic Diplomacy: Tunisian-African Co-operation as an Example."
The closing ceremony was attended by representatives of diplomatic and consular missions to Tunisia as well as several government members.
