Cagayan, Isabela, Northern Aurora now under Storm Warning Signal No. 3.

Storm warning Signal No. 3 has been raised on Saturday over Cagayan, Isabela and northern Aurora provinces as typhoon Dodong (international name Noul) approaches the country.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) hoisted storm warning signals in at least 26 areas, mostly in Luzon, as Dodong is expected to make landfall over Cagayan or Isabela on Sunday morning.

The three provinces are likely to experience heavy to intense rains and gusty winds as early as Saturday evening until Sunday, according to PAGASA weather forecaster Alvin Pura.

Likewise, stormy weather will be felt in areas under Signal No. 2, particularly in Calayan and Babuyan islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, rest of Aurora, Polillo Island, Catanduanes and Quirino.

Signal No. 1 has been raised over Batanes, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Benguet, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar.

As of mid-Saturday, Dodong was at 210 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 460 km east of Infanta, Quezon packing maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 195 kph.

Pura said the typhoon may still slightly intensify before its landfall but it may no longer reach the super typhoon category.

Dodong has maintained on Saturday its direction and speed of west-northwest at 20 kph.

Pura said Dodong is expected to leave the PAR on Monday evening or early Tuesday morning, as it heads toward Taiwan and southern Japan.

He pointed out that the typhoon is too far to affect Metro Manila.

Good weather will prevail over Metro Manila, rest of Central Luzon, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and rest of Visayas with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms, and cloudy skies.
