Cabot and Deza a.s.

Cabot and Deza a.s., formerly Urxovy Zavody, established a joint venture to modernize, expand and operate a carbon black plant in Valasske Mezirici, Czechoslovakia. The joint venture company, CS Cabot spol. s.r.o., is owned 52% by Cabot and will have an annual capacity of 80,000 tons of high-quality, advanced reinforcing and semi-reinforcing grades of carbon black for the tire and rubber industries. More than $50 million will be spent on plant construction of two new production units, which are expected to be finished by the fall of 1993. The unit will utilize Cabot's technology, said to permit high-energy efficiency and reduced raw material consumption, a goal of both Deza and Czechoslovakia.
