Cabinet relieves agricultural production inputs of sales tax.

Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) -- The Cabinet on Monday decided to relieve agricultural production inputs from a 10-percent sales tax as part of a broader drive to revisit the overall tax burden and support the agriculture sector as well as farmers. The Cabinet also reduced the tax on corn from 10 percent to 5 percent and also cancelled a 4-percent tax on poultry production inputs. Furthermore, the local agricultural production is now relieved from the general sales tax which will remain in force on imports. The decisions come in light of border closures and limited access to export markets. They also seek to bring agro produce and poultry prices down to protect the poor and limited income classes. //Petra// AA 17/09/2018 20:11:01
