CYCLE SPEEDWAY: Champion test for new track's debut.
COVENTRY take on British Champions Wednesfield Aces at the grand opening of Coventry Cycle Speedway tonight (7pm).Cllr Ann Lucas, cabinet member of Coventry City Council for Leisure, will perform the opening ceremony of the newly-refurbished Hearsall Common Track beforet he action starts.
And it's sure to be fast and furious on track as Devlins Newsagent-sponsored Coventry are determined to christen the new track with a victory before the expected large crowd.
Team manager Steve Bromwich parades his strongest side with former world champion Ray Oliver, lone signing Allan Brown and Tim Metcalfe all returning.
The opening match will feature a display by the city of Coventry corps of drums, match races at Cycle Speedway by speedway riders and the night will finish with an after match reception at the Herald pub from 9pm onwards.

COVENTRY complete a busy weekend by entertaining Birmingham in the British League at Hearsall Common tomorrow (3pm).
