CYBeR-CARE Announces Contract With The Good Samaritan Society to Evaluate its Modified Electronic Housecall System.
CYBeR-CARE, Inc. (Nasdaq:CYBR) announced today that it has executed an agreement with The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society of Sioux Falls, South Dakota to supply a smaller version of its Electronic Housecall System that will remotely monitor chronically ill individuals waiting for admission to The Good Samaritan Society's skilled nursing facilities.
The initial program, which will begin on January 2, 2000, will be conducted at the Sherman County Good Samaritan Center in Goodland, Kansas, and will provide the modified Electronic Housecall System to 25 individuals in a four county area of western Kansas. Based on the success of this project the telemedicine program could be expanded to Good Samaritan's national patient base serving more than 4,000 new individuals. Local referring healthcare providers have offered their strong support for the new tele-home health services that the Sherman County center is bringing to their area.
The Good Samaritan Society currently serves more than 28,000 residents in about 250 independent living and long term care facilities in 25 states. The Society addresses the needs of individuals who are not necessarily covered by Medicare or other assistance programs, and whose families cannot afford the out-of-pocket costs of medical care. The purpose of the tele-home health initiative is to provide advance "outreach" care to protect the health of clinically dependent individuals who are waiting for admission to a Good Samaritan facility. Tele-home healthcare may also be used for continued care after discharge from a healthcare facility.
"By using this technology, we will be able to provide our community with a wonderful solution for families in finding quality healthcare support," said Paul Rainbolt, Administrator of the Sherman County Good Samaritan Center. With the significant changes in provider reimbursement, we can help our community healthcare providers as well. CYBeR-CARE, has proven to be a leader in the industry, which made our decision easier to make."
Based in Boynton Beach, Fla., CYBeR-CARE is a technology assisted disease management company with four business lines. The company offers an Electronic Housecall System, a patented Internet based technology system that remotely monitors chronically ill patients. In addition, CYBeR-CARE operates physical, occupational and speech therapy centers, an e-pharmacy and one of the world's largest international air ambulance transport service.
